When you’re hanging out at your local coffee shop with your laptop, do you connect with staff (e.g. the Barista, owner, or maybe the social media guru behind the counter) via Twitter? Have you ever shared your GPS coordinates via foursquare, Gowalla, or Coffee Buzz using your mobile device, with the desire to meet up with one of your friends? If so, has your tweet led to a face to face conversation?
I can’t quite explain it, but there is something refreshing about receiving and responding to messages sent my way on Twitter. The feeling is similar to the rush I get when striking up and having a stimulating conversation at the coffee shop. I simply live for all things coffee and conversation. In fact, I’m writing this post as I fly to Hawaii (for work and pleasure) where I’ll be sampling my friend Velton’s Bonsai Blend at Downtown Coffee in Honolulu, and later staying at a Coffee Farm Bed and Breakfast in Kona.
The coffee shop known as Twitter is finding itself in the real ones, and the real ones are joining the conversation on Twitter. With the desire to follow all that help make caffeinated conversations possible, I have created a Twitter list of caffeinated conversation places.
Please post your favorite coffee shops to follow in the comments section and I’ll add them to my list, and if you work for a coffee shop, please do share how you’re using Twitter to connect with your coffee loving customers. Mahalo.

I was one of the very first people to populate the Coffee Gallery in Haleiwa… I was there… nearly everyday… for the first years it was open… I was with Sterman Realty and would walk down to the Coffee Gallery at the other end of the street… Now Richard Sterman has his office in same center…
I have had coffee everywhere… Kona, Seattle… [live north of for 15 years now… but the experience of being in the Haleiwa Coffee Gallery with friends is the best… can’t be replaced… V.
@Verna My friend Velton worked there in 1993. Great atmosphere. A dozen or so blends to choose from, and a nice separate seating area for coffee, conversation, and WiFi.
