When I started going to coffee and conversation friendly places, I would look for the smallest table available, place my stuff down, and head to the Barista to order a cup of coffee. Nowadays, when I go to the coffee shop looking for conversation, I go to the largest table available where a few people are already working, talking, or whatever else.
And when there is a full size kitchen table with an extension cord to accommodate multiple computers, I know that conversation will be free-flowing. Kitchen tables are prime spots for conversation, as they seat at least four, and allow you spread out.
Sometimes, I see people head to the kitchen table, but walk away, choosing a table for two in a far off corner. Kitchen tables are the most public of all tables, as most people understand that they belong in a kitchen where morning, afternoon, and evening meals take place. And during these meals, conversation is common.

I truly love working from home, but find myself constantly hoping that I run into someone to talk to during the day. My wife works in an office and thinks I am very fortunate to work at home…I agree but am jealous of the fact she can talk about life with grown ups everyday.
@Tim Connecting with people via Facebook and Twitter is great, but there’s nothing like working with people offline in a work environment or at least a coffee shop.
